Dad is in the hospital tonight, but he's feeling much better. Hope we know something soon.

Well, it's here. One week from Thursday I finally get my day in court, for better or worse. I'm cautiously optimistic, and I'm scared spit-less. I will let everyone know as soon as I find anything out.

Something furor_scribiend might appreciate, I have a new Alienware Elite Assassin ALX. I haven't had it very long, but it's an awesome machine. I highly recommend it. Though, my word it's a behemoth!

And guess who's back in the dating world. Moving slowly and tentatively forward, it's nice to be back in the game again.

Seriously contemplating right now eating a box of See's, but I think I'll manage to keep it to a couple truffles . . .

Hope everyone has a great day!

Jan. 9th, 2007 @ 08:08 pm Gma update
Current Mood: contemplativecontemplative
Current Music: Lady - Little River Band
Well, I knew that Gma had been a bit more confused lately. She asks me on a more regular basis where her bed is, but she's usually satisfied when I tell her it's in her room. She recognizes us all, and usually remembers everyone's names who visit us periodically, she just doesn't always remember how we're all connected.

But maybe it's worse than I thought. We were out at the doctor's today (because she was having some headaches and face pain that, of course, once we were in the doctor's office wasn't bothering her anymore). When we came home, she asked me where we were. I told her we were home. Later she asked me how far away from home we were. Again I told her we were home. A bit later than that she told me that she wanted to go home to where she sleeps so we'd be there.

She asked me a couple of mornings ago where she was, but that was the morning after she had taken a Lortab, so I assumed it was still some disorientation from the medicine. Now I'm not so sure.

Whatever the cause, however, there doesn't seem to be anything the doctor or I can do more than we're doing. Consistency helps, which is probably part of the problem today. And we keep going along.

This type of problem, I have to say, though, makes me cognizant of how old she really is and that I should prepare myself a bit more for the eventual time when she's no longer here.

Dec. 21st, 2006 @ 01:29 am Loretta's Birthday
Current Mood: contentcontent
Current Music: Iconoclasts: Mikhail Baryshnikov and Alice Waters
I'm woefully overdue with writing again about Loretta's birthday. We really had a wonderful time. We bowled a couple of games and watched The Santa Clause 3, which was fun. We bumped into Han and Nomin and got to see the kids and re-exchange phone numbers/addresses. I miss them, but we do have a hard time connecting.

After the movie, Loretta and I went to dinner at Wingers. We got to talk a lot and enjoy each other. I think (I hope) she had as good a time as I did. As much as I miss William, I am enjoying the opportunity to become closer with Loretta.

Well, Marty emailed this morning. I don't know if it's been made official yet, but we're looking at February 22/23 for court. I don't think I need to tell any of you how I feel about that, so I'm just going to leave it there.

Current Music: Tomorrow is Forever
Just watched Tomorrow is Forever again. It's been a few months since I've seen an Orson Welles movie, and it's funny to me that I forget just how powerful an actor he really was; he really draws me in. This is absolutely one of my favorite movies that Mr. Welles made. Another of my favorites, Lady from Shanghai, will be on in the morning. Mr. Welles' co-stars in both movies (Claudette Colbert, George Brent, and Natalie Wood in TiF, Rita Hayworth and Everett Sloane in LfS) also, IMO, were perfectly cast and lent their own brilliance, insight, and talent to these movies.

Now, on a much more exciting topic, I received a letter from Lauren's mom today (well, yesterday)! As soon as I can, I will type it and post it here for those of you who might be interested. PLUS, it came with a new, beautiful picture of the magnificent Lauren which I will scan and post with the letter. (Hopefully, this will all happen tomorrow.)

Oct. 11th, 2006 @ 11:32 pm The BIG news of the day!
Current Mood: annoyedAnnoyed . . . and Hungry!
Current Music: Law & Order
The big news from the status meeting this afternoon amounted to the fact that the other side does not want to settle. As they sent a representative lawyer and not the actual lawyer, my lawyer is going to have to play phone tag and try to work out a time our case can be heard officially that works with everyone's schedules. We're looking at possibly December or January.

On a similar front, tomorrow, if the pattern holds, will be the third weekend William has not come for my visitation with him. Not getting mad, simply taking notes. I do miss him, though.
